I love med school!

I don't know how long this will last (maybe until the first exam...), but I am embracing this excitement right now.  Med school is so fun!  All of our lectures are interesting and relevant.  Fortunately with a Masters in Medical Science under my belt, the flood of information isn't too overwhelming (yet). We have lectures every morning covering basic medical science topics such as histology, pathology, and biochemistry.  Every Thursday afternoon we we work with a small group of students and preceptors to learn how to do a physical exam.  Last Thursday we learned how to take vitals, look in ears and noses, and test cranial nerve functions.  It was so fun!  I have no idea why seeing someone's eardrum is so exciting to me, but it is.
We got to make this face in class to test Cranial Nerve VII

Every Tuesday afternoon we practice patient interviewing with our small groups and preceptors.  We interviewed real patients yesterday!  It was a challenge to listen to everything while also thinking about what questions needed to be asked.  Hopefully I did a little better than the cartoon below:)

We concluded our first week of school by taking the hippocratic oath for the first time!
